Museum Exhibition Planning & Design

We address the conceptualization, research, organization, design and production of museum exhibits, exhibitions, and educational presentations utilizing a variety of techniques and media.

The Exhibition Planning & Design Program prepares graduates to excel in the design process implemented by professionals in the world of exhibition development.  Your first semester provides a foundation in all the skills, vocabulary, and theory needed for your work in the program and in your career.  You are introduced to concepts such as spatial sociology, sensory perception as a communication tool, color theory, educational theory, as well as more haptic skills including type manipulation, material choice and building techniques, hand drawing and drafting, computer skills, and model making.  Perhaps most importantly, you’ll get practical experience offering critical analysis and crafting written and oral presentations.

You should consider the UArts

  • Have an interest in design, communication and informal education.
  • You like to create and draw + read and write + think and do.
  • You want to create a conversation through material culture.
  • Have a passion to problem solve elegant solutions for public audiences.
