Assistantships are awarded to students as part of the University’s financial aid award package. Rather than working within the University, students are placed in museums for up to ten hours a week during the school semester.
Katie Roberson and Dana Byrd helped the Philadelphia Athenaeum place more of their decorative and fine arts collections in PastPerfect. Last year Christine McMonagle, also from UArts, began this process by entering most of the objects into the database.
The purpose of the Senior Artists Initiative is to assist senior artists in understanding the need for, and processes involved in, organizing their life’s work, and to develop programs that provide recognition for senior artists. Museum Studies students interested in collections management and working with living artists frequently perform assistantships with the SAI.
