Vice President Museum Practice – The Canadian Museum for Human Rights
Posting through Lord Cultural Recruitment
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is Canada’s newest national museum, currently under construction in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A ‘dialogue museum’ with a strong focus on innovation, this institution is mandated to explore the subject of human rights with special, but not exclusive reference to Canada, in order to enhance the public’s understanding, promote respect for others and encourage reflection and dialogue. It is envisioned as a national and international destination – a centre of learning where Canadians and people from around the world can engage in discussion and commit to taking action against hate and oppression. You can find further information about the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on our website at http://humanrightsmuseum.ca/.
We are looking for a Vice President, Museum Practice with an impressive track record in leadership within the museum, heritage or cultural sector. As a member of the Executive team, this position shares the responsibility of leading the Museum from its development to a successful operation, with specific accountability for the successful planning and execution of dynamic exhibitions and programming for opening day and beyond. In this brand new role, you’ll provide leadership to the teams responsible for curation, exhibits, learning and programming, project management, and design and new media. A strong collaborator, you’ll build relationships with museum staff and contractors, develop policy and standards and deliver results on time and to budget.
